Today I actually started working in the Emergency Room, we are going to rotate in the different areas here; basically the work is really easy because we don’t see a lot of complicated diseases but the volume is BIG wish mean A LOT of work!
I really cant complain about the people here, they are constantly taking care of us, this morning they even brought us breakfast!
Last night I was on guard in the emergency and only one patient came at 3 am with tooth ache, yes she came to the ER at 3am because of a toothache, I really didn’t mind because yesterday I was so tired that I went to bed at 7pm so I was really well rested.
Tonight I will be in the ER again and the rest of the week, but we get to go home on the weekend :)

Hall where our room is, we live in the Hospital in an area design for the doctors to live, we get our own room and bathroom, but we share the kitchen with 1 more doctor, another one is suppose to move on monday, but now there are only doctors (us included).

The kitchen is HUGE, another are I'm making prettier :p

we dont have a table yet, we are planning on getting a dinning set next week.

This bucket I took to save water, but so far the water here is good, so no need to use it yet!

Our bathroom :) the cute yellow blob on the kitchen is a cup in the shape of a chick that my sister gave me and I use it to pour water :)

I love my shower curtain, color all the way!!

Updates

I am planning on doing some biweekly updates until I get internet and have a chance to post daily, so I am saving my post until I get back home with internet access!

We'll be coming home every 15 days on the weekends, so we'll have 2 weekends there and 2 home. Now we are home on our first weekend free.

They said we'll get internet this next week but until that REALLY happens here is our update :)

June 1st, 2009

Today we moved to Los Cacaos, the area is really nice and surrounded by Mountains, it is so beautiful :) There are around 400 families here, all of them really poor and in need of tons of thing, at least now they don’t have to travel to get medical attention, because they cannot afford the travel fee.
I spend the whole day fixing our room here and Bayo spend the day seeing patients, at the end of the day we are SO tired :p
People are really friendly here, they are all really happy that we came, because no doctor wanted to move to the mountain, we re like an tour and a half away from the city, but the road is really bad so we cannot travel daily.
I will be coming home every other weekend and until we get internet over there I will be saving my post and publishing all of them when I get to the city.
I am really looking forward to the adventures this next year are going to bring us, wish us luck!

news and FFF

Either I write now or never (I will do another post with more details), do you remember this post?

Well it turns out now we DO have to move for the new job, and we are moving to a rural area in the montain :0 Yup far away from anything modern, working in a new hospital there (the people from the area are really happy to see us because no other doctors wanted to go that far), we decided to take it because it will be a new and fun experience :)

Like I said more details once we settle down there (moving is no fun :/ we'll be coming to the city every 2 weekends) and lets all pray they have wireless internet.

Here in DR, after you finish medicine, in order to get your exequatur (is the number that allows you to legally work on your career and give prescriptions) you have to work for 1 year for the goverment (public intership).
We've been trying to get in for a year, and after we came home from the test we went to the office in charge of giving you the intership daily, yes daily, because there is a lot of people on the waiting list!!
Well no more! today they finally located us in an intership and is near home, at first they told us that Bayo was being placed in a different town than me, but after practically begging the lady in charge, the secretary told us that since she still hasnt called all of the interns, that if someone rejected the offer she would try to locate us together, we were even considering moving to another town as long as we were together, well no need for that, because she called me this afternoon and said that we are going to the same place and is a town near ours so we dont have to move :)
I AM REALLY HAPPY!

I {HEART} Baking

If you love cookie dough and you love cupcake this is perfect for you :)

Today I baked Double Chocolate Chunk Vanilla Cupcakes, just writing the name makes me want to go grab another one, yum!

It is just your favorite cupcake and cookie recipe mix together, could there be anything better in the world? NOPE!

First you need to make some cookie dough, if you are scared about eating raw eggs use this eggless recipe, if like me you like to lick your bowl clean everytime you bake and really couldnt care less about salmonella just to have that wonderful taste in your mouth :) follow this one for Double Chocolate Chunk cookies (or your regular favorite one).

Make the dough into balls and freeze them (eat a few before you do that).

Now make vanilla cupcakes, and put the frozen cookie dough balls on top before baking, no need to push them down.

Bake the regular time your cupcake recipe requires.
